Food lifeline has a mission to end hunger in western Washington. They have been providing food to people who face food insecurity for over 40 years from their local food pantries. They are partnered with over 300 agencies like food banks, shelters, and meal programs where they distribute food with an equivalent of 134,000 meals every single day.
There are multiple ways on how to help and get involved. Volunteering to support the communities by distributing emergency food boxes in many locations or packing foods in their warehouse. There are multiple locations and dates that are available. You must be 10 years or older to be able to volunteer. Many groups can volunteer, like corporate teams, schools, community, families or just you. The Seattle volunteer sessions are Monday through Friday and it is going to be in the Hunger Solution Center.
There are other ways to be involved in a Food lifeline organization other than Volunteering. You can also donate some funds, give a gift in tribute, host a food drive, create events, be their partners and be involved in Advocacy.
They believe that access to food is a human right and that the causes of hunger are complex. Food Lifeline's goal is to address the needs of people who face food insecurity while addressing the root causes of poverty, inequity, and injustice. They work with these problems with their nonprofit partners, government agencies and legislators to challenge systemic inequities and social justice.
While developing long-term strategies to ensure that everyone who faces food insecurity has enough food to eat. This is a great organization for young teens because they can get involved in their early years of age and learn how to help the community.
I (Christa) would want to volunteer during my free time. Engaging in this part of the project gave me knowledge of the things that I could do to help and solve the problem of food insecurity and make sure to make sure that people in the community have food security.
